The Inevitable Encounter

In the Kingdom of Clow, the commoner Syaoran has arrived home. His first visitor of the day is none other than Sakura as she hugs him out of her happiness. Leaving his home, they walk around the town for a while as they talk about some things. Seeing as Sakura is wearing her cloak, she snuck out from the castle. Oh yes, in this kingdom she is the princess and her brother, Touya, is none other than the ruler.

Of course, guards find her later and chase after her, but Syaoran runs away with her and they stop when they lose the guards. Sitting on the edge of a hill, they relax for a moment and start talking again. Sakura wants him to live in the castle with her, but he denies the offer because he is but a mere commoner. Then she tries to tell him something else but the castle bells interrupt her, which signal that she must return home. She will tell him when they next meet, and she leaves. Meanwhile Syaoran is thinking to himself about how he feels towards her.

When Sakura is in the castle, she tip toes trying to not get caught by her brother. Unfortunately she's caught and they enter another argument over Syaoran being a brat (or not). Their bickering ends when Yukito, the high priest, comes along and shows them the excavation plans. When Sakura leaves for her room, the boys discuss about her.

Meanwhile in another place, a samurai cloaked in black stands on top of a roof laughing while a princess is in another building looking worried. In yet another place, a young man with a tattoo on his back emerges from the water and is cloaked by a young girl. Back with Sakura, she's staring out at the ruins- where Syaoran is. Looking closely at the ruins, she begins to hear a lovely ringing sound and is attracted to it.

She looks around her surroundings and finds herself inside the ruins and Syaoran is some distance from her. However, she's rather attracted to the floor, and places her palms o the floor. The marking on the ground glows and the floor splits as Sakura floats downwards. Outside the ruins, gaps open in the air and soldiers appear. Syaoran jumps down to the level below and watches in amazement. But realizing the danger she's in, he climbs up the wall. Meanwhile, a mysterious couple are watching him through a giant mirror.

Reaching Sakura, he pulls her down but her wings (that formed while being in front of the marking) shattered into feathers and scattered upwards. He takes her outside and is met by Touya and Yukito. After reading their memories, Yukito confirms that Sakura's heart has flown away (all those feathers) and her memories are no longer present in this world. He then takes them back into the ruins after Syaoran asks if he could help in any way. Yukito brings out his staff and begins a summoning. He tells Syaoran that he'll be taken to the Witch of Dimensions with Sakura, and that's where they will get help.

Back with the people seen earlier, the young man with the tattoo is summoning himself to the same which. The samurai is also being taken to the same witch, but the princess is making him go there. Syaoran and Sakura arrive first, landing on the wet ground and are met by the witch and her helpers. The other gentlemen arrive also, and Syaoran can't help but ask if the witch can save Sakura.
