Syaoran and co. drop into the next world with a sleeping Sakura. Fai talks about the different type of magic he used to get them out of the previous country, and Kurogane's eyes seem to darken for a moment. Syaoran apologizes for not having more thoughts on their escape plan. As Syaoran and Mokona talk, Fai walks up a slanted pillar and wonders where they are this time. He looks out to see a rather run-down area.

Elsewhere, in Sakura's dream, she's floating in mid air with her eyes closed and someone is telling her to wake up. Back to Syaoran and co., they've begun walking around and Syaoran notes that all the rocks are round. They soon find out why as acid rain falls from the sky and the group is forced to seek shelter in the one building that doesn't look damaged.

Just when they think they're safe under its roof, Kurogane turns his head and makes them think twice. All around are dead bodies with multiple arrows pierced through them. Syaoran goes in to check what's going on with Mokona, and it's the same scenery everywhere. Syaoran suggests for Mokona to hide ion his coat, but Mokona says he must search for Sakura's feather. Mokona says he senses something, not exactly sure what, but it's a huge power. Just after Mokona says it's below, a barrage of arrows fly out from one direction at Syaoran. He jumps back but is shot in the leg with one.

Among the hooded figures that appear, the leader (presumably) asks if Syaoran came here to die. The leader, Kamui, then asks if Syaoran is "E" (Emono or Prey), yet Syaoran doesn't understand what he's saying. Without waiting for an answer, Kamui fires another arrow, and Syaoran prepares to block it with his arm, but it's knocked away by a rock.

Kurogane comes just in time to save Syaoran and then orders Mokona to give him his katana. Mokona happily obliges, and then Kurogane and Kamui engage in a battle. They come really close to cutting each others' throats, but then Kurogane uses Shouryusen (Rising Dragon Flash), which sends Kamui into the ceiling. Kamui falls gracefully back on to the floor, and Kurogane wonders if he ever feels pain. Just as Syaoran wonders about Kamui's strength, Kamui's eyes turn gold and then he walks away saying he will go Underground.

Fai comes out with Sakura and they talk like cival people, and Syaoran ends up getting treatment for his leg wound. They also find out that water is what's underground. They tell the group that they'll have to work while they stay, and Fai says Kurogane will take care of it. Kurogane, who is quite mad, tells Fai not to decide things on his own.

Back in Sakura's dream, that person is still telling her to wake up, and if she doesn't walk up soon she'll....

After the treatment, Sakura's been put on a bed and one of the guys, Kusanagi, tells them about the area. Fifteen years ago, the acid rain began to fall, everything like lakes and rivers became unsuitable to drink from. Luckily in this place, called Tokyo, there are underground water veins. They then talk about the importance of this building, the water, and the Tokyo Tower - the only other place that has clean water. Since they're the only two places left with clean water, they're at war for each other's water supply.

Underground, Kamui is sitting on the ledge and staring into the water. The water begins to glow, and Kamui wonders how long he can stay in this place. Later at night, Syaoran has also fallen asleep, and Fai puts a blanket over him. He talks to Kurogane, and hopes that Sakura can stay asleep the whole time that they're here. He also thinks that Syaoran might be getting a fever. Fai turns to Kurogane and tells him to say something, otherwise it'll be like he's talking to himself.

Kurogane then says that Fai should talk as well. He then proceeds to ask him why he used his magic back in Record Country despite being on the brink of death in the Country of Koryo. Fai manages to avoid the subject, but Kurogane tells him that he (Kurogane) doesn't care what Fai does, because he knows Fai wishes for no one to get close to him. Yet, he's involving himself with Sakura and Syaoran, and that whistle he did in Record Country. Fai tells Kurogane that he can't die.

Kurogane rewords Fai's answer by saying, "You wouldn't let yourself die. However, if you die by another's hand that's different," and finally tells him to "clear your head and face the present." After they're little discussion, Kusanagi and another comes in and asks if they can talk a little bit. Kurogane goes out and talks with them. While Fai stumbles backwards and slumps against the wall where Kurogane had just been. With his hair covering his eyes, he puts his hand over his eyes and claims that doing so is too difficult for him.

Back in Sakura's dream, her eyes finally open within her dream and she notices that she's in the water. Something lights below her, and again the voice tells her that she can't stay here. Sakura turns around and sees this glowing sphere holded up with thick wires of some sort. The voice tells her to open her eyes before she's captured by the dream.

The next morning, Syaoran, Fai, Kusanagi and co. are out on hover-scooters searching for monsters. Kusanagi wonders why Kurogane didn't come out, and Fai tells him that Kurogane is worried about Sakura. Mokona then says Kurogane is on House Duty, and then they both say "Right?". Poor Kurogane. Speaking of Kurogane, he's sitting against the bed with his back turned to Sakura. Right after he calls Fai a bad name, Sakura's hand twitches, but he doesn't notice.

Syaoran and co. stop at the end of a broken bridge. Right afterwards, a giant worm comes out from the ground and attacks them. Fai it's it near the head and this blue-green ooze comes out, and then the worm dies. Kusanagi tells them that the worm is a mutant laced with poison, but when the poison is removed, it can be eaten. Right afterwards, Mokona is horrified because he had been called a mutant too. Worrying about being eaten, Kusanagi makes the fear worse by telling Mokona that he looks tasty.

Right afterwards, another mutant worm comes out from behind them, just a bit too close to Nataku, and Syaoran tells Mokona to give him Hien. With Hein, he slices the mutant worm at the base of its neck, and it quickly dies. Kamui turns back around just in time to see a group of people from the Tower show up. Elsewhere, the other "Syaoran" hand twitches, and the Syaoran in Tokyo Country winces, but no one notices.

Fai wonders who they are, and Kusanagi explains that Kamui and the leader from the Tower are enemies. Said leader from the Tower wonders why Kamui is in such a bad mood, and Kamui tells him it's because he (Kamui) saw his (the leader of the Tower) face. Kamui then jumps over the gap between the bridge ends and attacks the other guy, but his opponent notices how slow Kamui's attacks are. Fai thinks it's probably from Kamui's fight against Kurogane.

Not being one to take insults from this guy, Kamui flicks his wrist and flips the guy over and away in one fluid motion. Sorata, a part of the Tower group, calls the leader Fuuma and calls him uncool. Fuuma also notices Fai and Syaoran before leaving for the Tower because its being attacked by other groups. Afterwards Syaoran and Fai find out that Kamui is like them; he arrived two years ago in the underground, and he looked at the water and said, "It's here. I will protect it."

Nataku then approaches Syaoran and says that Kakkyo stated that he (Syaoran) and Kamui were a lot alike, searching for something. Syaoran's visible eye dulls and he says, "We have to get it back without fail." At this, Fai looks at Syaoran with worried eyes. Back in Modern Japan, the Black Mokona does the Mekkyo thing, and Yuuko says, "It has awakened."

At the same time, back in a place unknown, the other Syaoran raises his arm towards the center of his pod and breaks the seal as well as his cage. He lands on the ground and says, "Syaoran."

Back in Sakura's dream, she asks why the owner of the voice is here. He responds by telling her that she is in a dream and that she must open her eyes. However, her eyes shut close again and she claims that she cannot. The glowing sphere does something and water flows past her, and voice says that she must open her eyes. Her most important person is...

In Sakura's room, her fist clenches and Kurogane finally notices. He goes to her and nudges her face, but he stops quickly when he notices that she isn't breathing! Just then, Mokona notices that the feather's presence has become stronger, and it's defintely at the bottom of the Goverment Office Building where Sakura and Kurogane are. Just after Mokona announces that, Kamui points his crossbow at the back of Syaoran's head, but Fai steps between them and Mokona tells Kamui that they're not searching for water, but for something else; something precious to Sakura.

With the other Syaoran, he's already begun walking and stops shortly to turn and see Xing-Huo. She ends up sending this Syaoran to Yuuko who will take him to where he wants to be. Before leaving, he asks her why, and she tells him, "Because the dream must end."

Back with Kurogane, he wonders if a doctor can save her, but then Kakkyo comes in and says it can't be done because her soul is sleeping. At the same time, the other Syaoran has arrived at Yuuko's front door. He kneels before her and looks up with his right eye.
